Andrew Smith, 50, of Derwent Road, Chorley, received the lengthiest sentence of six years at Preston Crown Court yesterday.

His accomplices, Cameron Smith, 27, of Old Hall Street, Wigan, was jailed for three years, and Connor Evans, 19, of Scawfell Road, Chorley, was sentenced to 12 months.

The trio targeted properties in Coppull and Charnock Richard on Sunday, December 15th, brazenly entering gardens and porch areas.

Their criminal activities included aggravated burglary, attempted burglary with intent to steal, attempted theft of a motor vehicle, and going equipped for theft.

The South Residential Burglary team swiftly launched an investigation, leading to the arrests of the three men.

Following close consultation with the Crown Prosecution Service, they were subsequently charged with the aforementioned offences.

All three men had previously pleaded guilty to the charges at an earlier court hearing, admitting their involvement in the pre-Christmas crime spree that undoubtedly left residents feeling vulnerable and insecure.

Yesterday’s sentencing at Preston Crown Court brings a sense of closure for the affected communities and sends a clear message that such criminal behaviour will not be tolerated.
