A 14-year-old boy has been charged with attempted murder and Section 18 wounding with intent following a stabbing incident in Kirkby on Wednesday, April 30th, which left two teenagers injured.
The charged boy also faces a count of possession of a bladed article in a public place. He has been remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear at Liverpool Youth Remand court today, Friday, May 2nd.
Merseyside Police have confirmed that the two teenage victims remain in hospital in a stable condition.
In a further development, detectives have arrested a second suspect, a 15-year-old boy, on suspicion of attempted murder and Section 18 wounding with intent. He is currently in police custody and will be questioned by detectives.
In response to the incident, a high visibility police presence remains in the Kirkby area to provide reassurance to the community. A Section 60 order, granting officers enhanced stop and search powers to prevent serious violence, is in effect across the area until 6 pm today (Friday).
Detective Inspector Graeme Osborne emphasized the ongoing nature of the investigation, stating: “Even though we have made arrests and a charge our investigation remains ongoing. We are continuing to appeal for anyone with information to come forward. Knives have no place on the streets of Merseyside and we will continue to do everything within our powers to find the people carrying and using weapons and bringing them to justice.”
Authorities are urging anyone who believes they can assist the investigation to contact Merseyside Police Contact Centre via X by messaging ‘Merseyside Police Contact Centre’ or through Facebook.
