The community is in mourning following the tragic death of 29-year-old Thomas Pritchard from Thornton, who died in a collision on Ballam Road in Lytham St Annes last week.
Mr. Pritchard was pronounced dead at the scene of the incident, which occurred around 10 pm on Wednesday, April 23rd.
In a heartfelt tribute, Mr. Pritchard’s loved ones described him as a “helpful young man, with a high emotional intelligence who had his whole life ahead of him.”
They highlighted his pride in his work within NHS administration and his zest for life.
“Tom loved life and was on the verge of moving in with his long-time partner, a change he was really looking forward to making,” the tribute continued. His passions included “long cycle rides,” and he was known for his willingness to “drive any distance just for pleasure or to help a friend in need of assistance.”
Those who knew him remember a “caring and kind” individual who “made everyone feel important.” His passing has left a deep void, and he “will be missed by us all,” his family and friends stated.
Lancashire Police were called to the scene on Ballam Road following reports that a red Mini John Cooper Works had left the road and collided with a tree.
Mr. Pritchard, who was the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle, tragically died at the scene.
A 19-year-old man from St Annes, the driver of a second vehicle, a black Seat Ibiza, has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving in connection with the collision.
Police have expressed their condolences to Mr. Pritchard’s family and friends during this incredibly difficult time.
The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collision is ongoing, and authorities are appealing to the public for any information or footage that may assist their enquiries.
“If you saw the vehicles in the moments before the collision, or have dashcam footage of Ballam Road, please do the responsible thing and get in touch,” a police spokesperson urged.
