A police cordon is currently in place in the Lancaster Gate area of Lancaster following the discovery of a suspicious package.
Police received a report at 6:32 am this morning regarding the package, which was found near a property in the vicinity.
As a precautionary measure, officers have cordoned off the area, and the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team is en route to assess the situation.
Authorities are urging the public to avoid the Lancaster Gate area until further notice.
“We received a report at 6.32am that a suspicious package had been found near to a property in Lancaster Gate,” a spokesperson stated.
“Colleagues from the Explosive Ordnance Disposal team are on their way, and we ask people to avoid the area as a precaution. We will provide an update when we can.”
