A 31-year-old man has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving and other offences following a tragic single-vehicle collision on the M6 near Preston that claimed the life of his 14-year-old son.
The incident occurred just after 12:15 pm on Sunday, April 20th, when a Peugeot van travelling southbound between junctions 34 and 33, close to University Hill, left the carriageway and collided with a tree.
The passenger in the van, Ryan Liam Morgan from Morecambe, sustained critical injuries and was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
His father, Daniel Burba, who was driving the van, also suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment. He has since been discharged.
Lancashire Police have now confirmed that Daniel Burba, of Arnside Crescent, Morecambe, has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving and causing death by driving whilst unlicensed and uninsured.
The force extended their deepest sympathies to Ryan’s loved ones during this incredibly difficult time, adding that they are being supported by specially trained officers.
Burba has been remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear at Lancaster Magistrates Court at 10 am tomorrow, Monday, April 28th.
Police are continuing to appeal to the public for any information or dashcam footage that may assist their investigation into the collision.
