The family of Andrew Old has released a heartfelt tribute following his tragic death in a fatal collision on Greenwood Road. Despite the swift response and dedicated efforts of emergency services, Mr. Old sadly passed away at the scene.

His beloved dog, Liddy, was also tragically killed in the incident.

In a moving statement, Andrew’s family described their profound grief and the immense void his passing has left.

“Andrew was our happy go lucky brother and he is so sadly missed by us all,” they shared. “We miss his smiles, his laughter, his jokes and his hourly phone calls. Words cannot describe the shock and disbelief that we feel due to the loss of Andrew, we are absolutely devastated.”

The circumstances surrounding the collision have not yet been fully disclosed. However, the family revealed the heartbreaking detail that the tragedy occurred just metres from Andrew’s home as he was walking Liddy.

Despite their immense sorrow, the family found a small measure of comfort in knowing that Andrew and Liddy were together in their final moments.

“The only solace we have is that Andrew and Liddy were not alone at such a horrific time and that they were together. Andrew and Liddy will always be in our hearts.”

The loss of Andrew, described as a “happy go lucky” individual who brought joy to those around him, will be deeply felt by his family and all who knew him. The simultaneous loss of his loyal companion, Liddy, further compounds their grief.

Authorities are expected to conduct a thorough investigation into the collision.

In the meantime, the community is asked to respect the privacy of the family as they navigate this incredibly difficult time.
