Young Man Dies in Lytham Collision, Teenager Arrested

A man in his 20s has tragically died following a collision on Ballam Road in Lytham last night (Wednesday, April 23rd).

Emergency services were called to the scene at approximately 10:00 PM after reports that a red Mini John Cooper Works had left the road and collided with a tree.

Sadly, the driver and sole occupant of the Mini was pronounced dead at the scene.

Lancashire Police have confirmed that the driver of a second vehicle, a black Seat Ibiza, a 19-year-old man from St Annes, has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and is currently in custody.

Sergeant Kas Hussain of the Road Policing Unit expressed his condolences, saying, “This is a tragic collision in which a man has very sadly lost his life, and my thoughts today are with his loved ones.”

Police are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision and are appealing to the public for any information that may assist their enquiries.

Sgt Hussain added, “We are investigating the circumstances surrounding this collision and I would appeal to anyone who either saw what happened or who has any footage such as CCTV, dashcam, Ring doorbell or mobile phone footage to get in touch.”

Officers are also keen to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the vehicles in the moments leading up to the collision.
