Lancashire Police are appealing for witnesses following a fatal collision in Morecambe in the early hours of today (Sunday, April 20th).
Emergency services were called to the A623 Bay Gateway, between Mellishaw Lane and Northgate, shortly after 3 am after a collision involving a pedestrian and a heavy goods vehicle (HGV).
Tragically, the pedestrian, an 18-year-old man from Morecambe, sustained serious injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Sergeant Paul McCurrie of the Road Policing Unit expressed his condolences, saying, “This collision has very sadly resulted in the death of a young man, and my thoughts are with his family and loved ones.”
He urged anyone who witnessed the incident or who may have relevant CCTV or dashcam footage to come forward.
“I would appeal to anyone who saw what happened or who has any CCTV or dashcam footage to get in touch,” Sgt McCurrie added.
Anyone with information is asked to call 101, quoting log number 0160 of April 20th.
Police are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collision.
