A 43-year-old man from Leyland has been charged with rape, kidnap, threatening a person with a bladed article, and attempted robbery following an investigation launched yesterday.
Police were called shortly after midnight on Thursday, April 17th, to a report that a woman had been raped in the Sephton Street area of Bamber Bridge.
The victim reported being taken to the location in a car after being threatened with a knife in the Leyland area.
In a separate incident, police also received a report of a man breaking into a property in Preston.
Following these reports, officers swiftly identified and arrested a suspect. After further investigation and consultation with the Crown Prosecution Service, Neil Reid, 43, of Towngate, Leyland, was charged.
Reid has been remanded in custody and is due to appear before Preston Magistrates’ Court tomorrow morning, Saturday, April 19th.
Lancashire Police have confirmed that the victim is receiving support from specially trained officers.
