The family of 93-year-old Judy Zussman, who tragically died in Gatley yesterday (Wednesday 16 April 2025), have released a heartfelt tribute to their “much loved and devoted” matriarch.

Judy, pictured above, was described by her family as “an adored sister, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.”

In a statement released today, they said, “Judy was a much loved and devoted wife to her late husband Jack, and an adored sister, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her family meant the world to her.”

The family also expressed their gratitude for the support they have received during this difficult time.

“We are extremely grateful for the outpouring of support at this tragic time. We kindly ask for privacy as we process our sad loss,” they added.

Specialist officers are continuing to support Judy’s family as the investigation into her death progresses.

Police confirmed yesterday the arrest of a 39-year-old woman on suspicion of murder in connection with the incident.

In an update today, authorities have stated that the arrested woman has since been detained under the Mental Health Act.

Greater Manchester Police have not released further details regarding the circumstances of Judy’s death.
