Two Arrested and Weapons, Suspected Class A Drugs Seized in Ashton Incident

Two individuals have been arrested, and a large knife along with a significant quantity of suspected Class A drugs have been recovered following a swift police response to a report of people with weapons inside a property in Ashton this afternoon.

Police were called to an address on Inkerman Street at 1:46 pm today, Wednesday, April 16, 2025, following reports from concerned members of the public.

Officers from Lancashire Constabulary quickly attended the scene and apprehended two individuals.

An 18-year-old man from Ribbleton was arrested on suspicion of possessing a knife/bladed article, and a 17-year-old boy from Preston was arrested on suspicion of possessing an offensive weapon. Both remain in police custody at this time.

During the operation, officers also recovered a large knife and a large quantity of substances believed to be Class A drugs.

The police acknowledged recent concerns within Preston regarding incidents involving weapons and assured the public that they are treating the issue with the utmost seriousness.

In a statement released this afternoon, the police said,

“We know that there have been some concerning incidents in Preston of late involving weapons and we just wanted to reassure you that we are taking this issue extremely seriously and taking positive action to tackle it.

We will not tolerate anyone carrying weapons on our streets and if you are caught with them, you should expect a visit to one of our custody suites.”

Residents in the Ribbleton area can expect to see an increased police presence this evening as a measure of reassurance. The police encouraged members of the public to approach officers and raise any concerns they may have.
