Salford Man Charged Following Large-Scale Disturbance Involving Crossbow

A Salford man has been charged in connection with a large-scale disturbance on Romney Street.

Roy Leader, aged 54 and residing on Littleton Road, Salford, was charged with possessing an offensive weapon, affray, and racially aggravated offences under the Public Order Act. His date of birth is recorded as 17th July 1970.

Leader has been remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear at Manchester and Salford Magistrates Court today, Wednesday, April 16th, 2025.

The charges follow an incident on the evening of Tuesday, April 15th, 2025, which involved a significant disturbance on Romney Street in Salford.

An investigation into the circumstances surrounding the disturbance is currently underway.

Detectives are working in collaboration with Salford Council to gain a comprehensive understanding of the use of the property where the incident occurred.
