A persistent shoplifter who pilfered £100 worth of Easter eggs has been brought to justice after a series of thefts in Radford.

Jordon King, 28, of no fixed address, was sentenced to eight weeks imprisonment at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on Friday, March 28th, after admitting to three counts of shop theft.

The court heard that King targeted supermarkets in the Radford area between February 27th and March 27th, making off with Easter eggs, nappies, and washing pods.

His criminal activity came to an end thanks to diligent work by the Radford neighbourhood policing team and a crucial tip-off from the public.

Officers were able to identify King through CCTV footage of the incidents, leading to his arrest on the morning of Thursday, March 27th.

During his apprehension, King further compounded his offences by pleading guilty to resisting a police officer.

In addition to the shoplifting charges, King also admitted to causing criminal damage to a Tesco Express on Alfreton Road on February 27th.

Magistrates ordered King to repay the cost of the stolen goods.

Sergeant Matthew Leask, of Radford’s neighbourhood policing team, expressed his satisfaction with the outcome.

“Shoplifting is not a victimless crime and can have a significant impact on retailers both financially and emotionally,” he stated.

“We take shoplifting very seriously and I am pleased we have been able to get a repeat offender like King off the streets.”

Police confirmed that inquiries are still ongoing to identify a second individual involved in the criminal damage incident at the Tesco Express.
