A 28-year-old man from Bacup has been arrested in connection with the assault of a woman in her 70s at the Co-op on Bacup Road, Waterfoot, which left her with a serious hip injury.

Police confirmed the arrest this morning, stating that the man was apprehended on suspicion of Section 20 Assault. The development comes just two days after an appeal was launched on Monday, seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a man they wished to speak to in connection with the incident.
