Family Pay Tribute to Chorley Motorcyclist Killed in Collision

The family of a 52-year-old man who died following a collision in Chorley have released a heartfelt tribute.

Scott Ashton tragically passed away in the early hours of Tuesday, April 15th, surrounded by his family.

He had been riding his Kawasaki ZX 600 northbound on Park Road from Chorley town centre at approximately 5:30 pm on Monday, April 14th, when he lost control on a right-hand bend near the entrance to Astley Park.

In a statement released through Lancashire Police, Mr. Ashton’s family said:

“The Ashton family would like to confirm the passing of Mr. Scott Ashton in the early hours of Tuesday 15th April surrounded by his family.

“Scott was a much-loved Father, Brother and Uncle and was also a good friend to many. Scott had a big heart and was always happy to help anyone. We are devastated by this sad loss and will miss him deeply.

“We would like to thank everyone who witnessed the accident and tried to help, you will never know how much that means to us and will remain ever grateful .

“Many thanks to the emergency services who worked speedily to ensure he had the best possible chance of survival. And to each and every member of staff and medical professionals, doctors at the Royal Preston Hospital for informing us every step of the way, allowing such a large family to be with him under difficult circumstances.

“We cannot thank you enough.”

Lancashire Police were called to the scene of the collision at 5:30 pm on Monday, April 14th. Specially trained officers are continuing to support Mr. Ashton’s loved ones during this difficult time.

The police are still appealing for any information or footage that may assist their investigation into the collision.
