Following community concerns highlighted through the Lancashire Talking survey, Preston’s Neighbourhood Policing team conducted another targeted day of action last week aimed at tackling anti-social behaviour (ASB) and drug dealing in the City Centre.

The operation, which involved both uniformed and plain-clothed officers, resulted in the arrest of two individuals.

One person was apprehended for drug offences, while the other was wanted for failing to appear in court in connection with knife offences.

In addition to the arrests, officers conducted numerous stop searches throughout the area and maintained a high-visibility presence to deter further incidents and provide reassurance to residents and businesses.

This latest action is part of #OpCenturion, a county-wide initiative led by Lancashire Constabulary and supported by Police and Crime Commissioner Clive Grunshaw.

The operation directly addresses Commissioner Grunshaw’s priority of getting tough on anti-social behaviour, with collaborative efforts from partner agencies.

The focus of the operation was directly informed by feedback received through the Lancashire Talking survey, demonstrating the police’s commitment to acting on the concerns raised by the local community.

A spokesperson for Preston’s Neighbourhood Policing team said,

“We have listened to the concerns of our residents and businesses regarding anti-social behaviour and drug dealing in the City Centre. This latest day of action demonstrates our ongoing commitment to tackling these issues and making Preston a safer and more pleasant place for everyone.”

They added, “The arrests made and the high visibility patrols are a direct result of the intelligence gathered, including through the Lancashire Talking survey.

We encourage the public to continue sharing their concerns with us so that we can effectively target our resources.”

Police and Crime Commissioner Clive Grunshaw commented, “Getting tough on anti-social behaviour is a key priority for me, and I am pleased to see the proactive work being carried out by the Preston Neighbourhood Policing team under Operation Centurion.

It’s vital that residents feel safe and that their concerns are being heard and acted upon.”

Members of the public who have concerns about where police resources should be directed are encouraged to share their views by completing the Lancashire Talking survey, accessible via the link: https://orlo.uk/ThQnI.

This operation underscores the commitment of Lancashire Constabulary to address community concerns and proactively tackle anti-social behaviour under the banner of #YouSaidWeDid.
