Police have launched an investigation following a serious disturbance in the Stocksbridge area of Sheffield on Saturday evening, which has left one man in critical condition.
Officers were called to Knoll Close at 8:36 pm yesterday (Saturday, April 12th) following reports of a large group of people fighting in the street, with one individual reportedly armed with a knife.
Upon arrival, armed officers arrested a 34-year-old man. However, it quickly became apparent that the arrested man required urgent medical attention. He was subsequently transported to hospital by the Yorkshire Ambulance Service and remains in a critical condition.
A 35-year-old woman and a 37-year-old man have also been arrested in connection with the incident on suspicion of attempted murder.
They are currently in police custody and being questioned.
A significant police presence remains in Stocksbridge as officers conduct a thorough investigation.
Several roads have been cordoned off, including Knoll Close, Wheatacre Road, Ellorslie Drive, and sections of Victoria Road and Glebelands Road. Victoria Road is closed from its junction with Glebelands Road to the junction with Bracken Moor Lane.
Detective Chief Inspector Andy Knowles, the Senior Investigating Officer, stated, “Our investigation is at an early stage and we are working hard to establish the circumstances surrounding this incident.”
He appealed to the public for information, saying, “We are keen to hear from anyone who saw what happened or who has information that may be able to assist our investigation.
