Police in Accrington are appealing for the public’s help following a serious assault in the early hours of Saturday morning that left a man in his 20s with multiple stab wounds.
Officers were called by the North West Ambulance Service at approximately 4:00 am on Saturday, April 12th, to reports of an injured man.
Upon arrival, they found the victim had sustained several stab wounds. He was immediately taken to hospital and remains in a serious but stable condition.
Thankfully, police have confirmed his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
Following initial investigations, authorities believe the man’s injuries were the result of an earlier altercation involving the victim and several other men.
This incident is believed to have occurred around 3:25 am on Saturday, April 12th, in Accrington town centre, specifically in the vicinity of Eagle Street, Ormerod Street, and Scaitcliffe Street.
In connection with the incident, three individuals – an 18-year-old, a 20-year-old, and a 23-year-old – have been arrested and are currently in police custody.
Detectives are now urging anyone who may have been in the area at the time of the incident, or in the hours leading up to or following it, to come forward with any information that could assist their enquiries.
“We are particularly keen to hear from anyone who may have dashcam or CCTV footage from the Eagle Street, Ormerod Street, and Scaitcliffe Street areas that we have not yet spoken to,” said a spokesperson for the police.
“We also want to speak to any taxi drivers who were working in the town centre around this time, as our enquiries suggest they may have witnessed something.”
The public can expect to see an increased police presence in the area as officers continue their investigations.
Police have reassured the community that these patrols are for their safety and encourage anyone with concerns to approach the officers on patrol.
Anyone with information is asked to approach the officers in the area or call 101, quoting log number 0240 of April 12th, to pass on any details that may be relevant to the investigation.
