A wave of shock and grief has swept through Crawley this morning following a devastating collision outside the busy Crawley Leisure Park that claimed the life of a young woman and left two other family members seriously injured.

The incident occurred at approximately 8:36 PM on Saturday, April 12th, when a grey BMW 3 Series collided with three pedestrians on London Road, directly adjacent to the leisure complex.

Tragically, a 25-year-old woman from the local area died at the scene.

They remain in hospital at this time, with their next of kin being supported by specialist police officers.

Police have confirmed the arrest of a 33-year-old man from Crawley at the scene.

He is currently in custody on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and driving while unfit through drugs.

Chief Inspector James Davidson addressed the tragic event, stating: “Our thoughts are with the victims’ family at this difficult time and we ask that the public respect their right to privacy.”

He further reassured the community, saying, “I’d like to reassure the community that we swiftly arrested a suspect in connection with this tragic incident, and our enquiries are ongoing to establish the exact circumstances.”

Highlighting the location of the incident, Chief Inspector Davidson appealed for public assistance:

“The collision occurred in London Road, Crawley, immediately outside the leisure park. This is a well populated area and we’re urging anyone who saw what happened or captured any relevant mobile, dash cam or CCTV footage to please come forward.”

Authorities are urging anyone with information related to the collision to come forward and assist with their investigation.
