Police Appeal for Information After Sexual Assault at York Railway Station

British Transport Police (BTP) are appealing to the public for help in identifying a man following a report of a sexual assault at York railway station. The incident occurred just after midnight on Saturday, March 29, 2025.

According to BTP, a 15-year-old girl was walking alone through the underpass at York railway station when she was approached by a man who spoke to her before sexually assaulting her.

In connection with the ongoing investigation, officers have today released an image of a man they believe may have crucial information that could assist their enquiries.

BTP are urging anyone who recognises the man in the image, or who may have witnessed anything suspicious in the underpass area of York railway station around midnight on Saturday, March 29, to come forward immediately.

Members of the public with information are asked to contact British Transport Police by texting 61016 or by calling 0800 40 50 40, quoting the reference number 2500037655.

Alternatively, anyone wishing to remain anonymous can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Police are treating this incident with the utmost seriousness and are committed to bringing the perpetrator to justice.

They are encouraging anyone who may have been in the vicinity of York railway station during the relevant time frame to check their dashcam footage or any other recordings that may hold valuable clues.

This appeal comes two weeks after the reported assault, as officers continue to pursue all available lines of enquiry. The victim is being supported by specialist officers.

Anyone with information, no matter how insignificant it may seem, is urged to contact British Transport Police as soon as possible.
