A 76-year-old man from Oldham is set to stand trial in the New Year accused of multiple non-recent child sexual offences.
Mumtaz Khan, born on January 1, 1949, is alleged to have committed 13 offences against three victims, who were as young as 13 at the time, between the years 2000 and 2007.
Detectives from the local unit dedicated to protecting young and vulnerable people in Oldham charged Khan in February of this year (2025). He has since made appearances at Manchester Magistrates’ Court and Manchester Minshull Street Crown Court.
At the Crown Court hearing, Khan was granted court bail and is now scheduled to face a jury trial commencing on January 5, 2026.
The Oldham Complex Safeguarding team received authorisation from the Crown Prosecution Service to bring charges comprising of 8 counts of indecent assault, 4 counts of sexual activity with a child, and 1 count of causing/inciting a child to engage in sexual activity.
Authorities have affirmed their commitment to providing ongoing support to all individuals affected by this case, working in collaboration with specialist agencies.
