Man Arrested on Suspicion of Murder Following Unexplained Death of Woman in Liverpool Hotel

Detectives investigating the unexplained death of a 58-year-old woman at the Lord Nelson Hotel in Liverpool city centre have arrested a 52-year-old man on suspicion of murder.

Merseyside Police were called to the hotel on Hotham Street at approximately 1:40 pm yesterday, Friday, April 11th, following reports that a woman had been found unconscious.

Despite the attendance of emergency services, the woman was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

An investigation has been launched to determine the full circumstances surrounding the incident and the cause of the woman’s death.

As part of their ongoing enquiries, officers have arrested a 52-year-old man from Liverpool on suspicion of murder.

The man is currently in police custody and will be questioned by detectives.

Detective Superintendent Paul Grounds addressed the media, stating:

“These are still the early stages of our investigation and our work will continue at pace at the location and elsewhere, as we look to piece together what happened.”

He added, “Our thoughts and condolences are with the victim’s family, who will be supported by specialist officers, and to everyone affected by the events of yesterday.

A man is in custody, and I like to take this opportunity to remind people of the importance of not posting speculation or other comments online which could affect our ongoing work.”

Police are appealing to the public for any information that could assist their investigation.
