A 61-year-old man from Old Swan has been arrested after being discovered hiding inside a freezer following a reported burglary in Melling last night, Thursday, April 10th.
Merseyside Police were called to a residence on Andrew Avenue at approximately 11:30 PM following reports of a house being broken into. Upon arrival, patrols conducted a search of the property and located the suspect concealed within a freezer chest in an upstairs bedroom.
During a search of the man, officers also discovered a wrap of white powder inside his socks.
The 61-year-old was subsequently arrested on suspicion of two counts of burglary dwelling and possession of a controlled Class B drug, believed to be amphetamine.
He is currently in police custody and assisting with enquiries.
Detectives from Sefton CID are appealing for anyone with information regarding this incident to come forward.
This includes anyone who may have witnessed any suspicious activity in the Andrew Avenue area yesterday evening, or who may have captured relevant footage on CCTV, doorbell cameras, or dashcams.
