Lancashire Police have sadly confirmed that a body discovered this morning is believed to be that of missing man Jo Overton.
Mr. Overton was reported missing by his family yesterday afternoon, prompting an urgent search by officers.
At approximately 8:20 am today, Saturday, April 12th, the body of a man was found on rural farmland off Oakenclough Road in Scorton.
Police attended the scene and have tragically confirmed their belief that the deceased individual is Jo Overton.
While formal identification is yet to take place, Mr. Overton’s next of kin have been informed of the devastating news and are being supported by specially trained officers.
Lancashire Police have expressed their deepest condolences to the family during this incredibly difficult time.
In a statement released this afternoon, the police confirmed that Mr. Overton’s death is not being treated as suspicious.
A file will now be prepared and passed to HM Coroner for further investigation.
Lancashire Police also extended their gratitude to the public for their assistance in sharing the initial appeal to locate Mr. Overton.
