A tragic collision on the M60 motorway near Swinton on Thursday, March 20, 2025, has claimed the life of David Lalgee, a 60-year-old man identified as the devoted husband and father who served as the Pastor of Church Alive in Blackpool.

Mr. Lalgee was travelling with his wife, Jo, when an HGV crossed the central reservation at junction 15 and collided with their vehicle along with five others.

He was taken to hospital with serious injuries but sadly succumbed to them.

In a heartfelt tribute released by his family, David was remembered as a “selfless and compassionate husband and father” who adored his family, including his children Josh, Tamar, and Ben, his stepchildren Jake, Will, and Connie, and his nine grandchildren.

His family spoke of the “warmth, kindness, and steadfast devotion” he brought to their home through his love for his wife.

The tribute revealed the extraordinary bravery Mr. Lalgee displayed in his final moments.

“In his final moments, David did what he had always done—he put others before himself,” his family stated. “With incredible bravery, he protected his wife, Jo, placing himself between her and the oncoming lorry that had crossed the central reservation.

He took the full impact, sacrificing his life to save the woman he loved.”

Beyond his role as a loving family man, David was a respected Pastor at Church Alive in Blackpool and a pillar of support to many.

His family emphasized his lifelong dedication to serving others, noting his 30-year tenure as the proprietor of Stockdove care home in Cleveleys, where he cared for the elderly.

“He lived to serve others, always offering kindness, wisdom, and unwavering faith,” his family said. “His selflessness and compassion touched so many lives.”

The family expressed the profound void left by his absence, stating,

“His absence leaves a void that words cannot express.” They also acknowledged the outpouring of support they have received, finding comfort in the many messages and shared memories of David.

In a poignant detail, the family shared that David’s son-in-law, Reuben Morley, will be dedicating his upcoming 100-mile ultramarathon to David’s memory.

The challenge, which David believed Reuben could complete within 24 hours, will now serve as a tribute to his strength and determination.

Greater Manchester Police are continuing their investigation into the collision and have not yet released further details.
