Emergency services are currently responding to a substantial fire involving scrap cars at a property on Stainton Road in Carlisle.
Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service is leading a multi-agency effort, with seven fire crews from stations across the north of the county currently on scene.
Due to the scale of the incident and to ensure the safety of the public and allow firefighters to work effectively, Cumbria Police have closed Stainton Road in the vicinity of the fire.
The fire service has expressed its gratitude to the public for their cooperation in avoiding the area during this ongoing incident.
This adherence to advice is crucial in allowing fire crews to access the scene and manage the situation without obstruction.
As a precautionary measure, residents and businesses in the Stainton Road area are being advised to keep their windows and doors closed due to the smoke emanating from the fire.
The cause of the fire is currently unknown, and the multi-agency response is focused on bringing the blaze under control and ensuring the safety of the surrounding area.
