Detectives are hunting a man who brutally assaulted an elderly dog walker in Penwortham earlier this week, leaving him with a fractured collarbone and facial injuries.
The shocking incident occurred around 5 pm on Tuesday, April 8th, on parkland near Margaret Road.
The victim, a man in his 70s, was reportedly walking his dog when he was attacked by another dog walker.
Lancashire Police have released an image of a man they wish to speak to in connection with the assault.
While acknowledging the image quality is not ideal, they are highlighting the individual’s distinctive yellow t-shirt in the hope that someone will recognise him.
The man is described as being between 30 and 40 years old, approximately 6ft 2 inches tall, and of a large build.
At the time of the assault, he was wearing a yellow t-shirt, dark shorts, and a baseball cap. He was also walking a very small dog that was off its lead.
Police are urging the man in the image to come forward and assist with their enquiries.
They are also appealing to anyone who recognises him, has any information about his identity, or witnessed the disturbing assault to come forward immediately.
“This was a shocking attack on an elderly man who was simply walking his dog,” said a spokesperson for Lancashire Police.
“We are determined to identify the person responsible for these serious injuries and bring them to justice. The man’s yellow t-shirt is quite distinctive, and we hope someone in the community will recognise him.”
Anyone with information is asked to contact Lancashire Police on 101, quoting log number 0988 of April 8th.
