Two men from Cardiff are in custody after a significant quantity of cannabis, estimated to be worth around £60,000, was discovered in their car on the M6 near Chorley last night.
Lancashire’s Road Crime Team made the stop at approximately 10:25 pm on Wednesday evening, pulling over a silver Mercedes C220 on the southbound hard shoulder close to Charnock Richard Services.
Officers reported a strong smell of cannabis emanating from the vehicle, prompting a search under Section 23 of the Misuse of Drugs Act.
The search revealed a “bag for life” filled with the Class B drug.
The driver of the Mercedes, a 34-year-old man from Cardiff, was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class B drugs, driving whilst disqualified, and failing to provide a breath test.
The passenger, a 29-year-old man also from Cardiff, was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class B drugs.
Both men are currently being held in custody as investigations continue.
This significant seizure highlights the ongoing work of the Road Crime Team in tackling drug-related offences on Lancashire’s road network.
