Family, friends, and the wider community gathered today to bid a final farewell to Gary Carlisle, a lifelong resident of Moor Nook who tragically died following a brutal assault last month.

The service took place at Red Scar Crematorium on Thursday morning, with many attending to pay their respects to Gary and offer support to his grieving family.

Gary was randomly attacked while walking his dog just after 6 am on Langden Drive, near Ribbleton Clinic and Ribbleton Hall Drive.

He succumbed to his injuries in hospital a week later, leaving the community in shock and mourning.

The outpouring of grief was evident at a vigil held previously at the scene of the attack, where hundreds of people from the local area came together to remember Gary and demonstrate their solidarity.

Balloons were released into the sky as a poignant tribute to the much-loved resident.
