A 34-year-old woman with a serious lower leg injury received assistance from Bolton Mountain Rescue Team and North West Ambulance Service (NWAS) personnel near the Liverpool Castle folly in Rivington earlier this week.

The mountain rescue team was contacted by NWAS, prompting a swift response.

While team vehicles were being mobilised from their various bases, two team members who were fortunately in the nearby Horwich area were able to head directly to the scene.

Upon arrival, the mountain rescue volunteers joined paramedics from the North West Ambulance Service who were already attending to the injured woman.

Shortly after, the North West Air Ambulance, based in Blackpool, landed in a clearing close to the incident.

The mountain rescue team members provided support to the paramedics in their treatment of the casualty.

Once the woman was stabilised and safely transferred into the land ambulance, the mountain rescue team was able to stand down and depart from the scene.

A spokesperson for Bolton Mountain Rescue Team said,

“We were pleased to be able to assist the North West Ambulance Service with this incident. Our thoughts are with the injured woman, and we wish her a rapid and full recovery.”

The exact circumstances surrounding the woman’s injury are currently unknown.
