Family Pays Tribute to Teenager Killed in Eccleshill Collision

The family of 15-year-old Christopher Dobson, who tragically died following a collision on Bradford Road in Eccleshill last Friday, April 4th, have released a heartfelt tribute to their “gentle giant.”

Christopher was crossing the road near the McDonald’s restaurant at approximately 10:45 pm when the fatal collision occurred.

In a moving statement issued today, Christopher’s family described him as “loved by all who knew him” and the “best son, grandson, brother and nephew you could ask for.”

They added, “Though Christopher’s life was cut short, the love, kindness, and joy he shared with all who knew him will never be forgotten.”

The family also expressed their gratitude for the outpouring of support they have received, saying,

“We would like to thank our friends, family, the local community and emergency services who have shown overwhelming support at this difficult time, we would like to request privacy as we try to come to terms with the loss of our beloved Christopher.”

West Yorkshire Police’s Major Collision Enquiry Team (MCET) is continuing its investigation into the circumstances of the collision.

A 35-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and a suspected drug driving offence.

He has since been released on bail pending further enquiries.

Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision or who may possess dashcam or CCTV footage that could assist their investigation to come forward.
