The family of 37-year-old Anthony Edwards, who passed away in hospital on Sunday afternoon, have released a heartfelt tribute and photograph following an incident on Kier Hardie Avenue in Bootle on the morning of Sunday, April 6th.

Mr. Edwards reportedly suffered a medical episode and was taken to hospital, where he sadly died later the same day.

In a statement released through authorities, his family described him as a “beloved Anthony” and a “loving person.”

They expressed their profound grief, stating, “words cannot describe how devastated we are, your friends and family will miss you dearly. We ask for privacy at this time so we can grieve together.”

Merseyside Police have confirmed that enquiries into the incident remain ongoing. Officers are currently conducting house-to-house enquiries in the local area to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.

Due to police contact with Mr. Edwards prior to him being taken to hospital, the matter has been referred to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC), as is standard procedure in such cases.

The IOPC will now conduct an independent investigation into the police involvement.

The police are urging anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has any information that could assist their enquiries to come forward.

This is a developing story, and further updates are expected as the police investigation and the IOPC review progress.

The thoughts of the community are with Mr. Edwards’ family and friends during this difficult time.
