The cause of the devastating caravan fire at Golden Beach Holiday Park in Ingoldmells that tragically claimed the lives of a father and daughter has been determined as accidental.
Lincolnshire Fire & Rescue today (Tuesday, April 8) released the findings of their investigation into the blaze that occurred in the early hours of Saturday, April 5.
The fire tragically resulted in the deaths of Lee Baker, 48, and his ten-year-old daughter, Esme Baker.
Emergency services were called to the scene at 3:53 am on Saturday following reports of a fire in a privately owned caravan within the holiday park.
While the fire service has concluded their investigation and determined the cause to be accidental, Lincolnshire Police have confirmed that their inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the incident are ongoing.
This is standard practice in such cases to prepare a comprehensive file for the coroner.
The community continues to mourn the loss of Mr. Baker and his young daughter. Further updates from the coroner’s office will be provided in due course.
In a heartfelt statement released through Lincolnshire Police, a family member of Lee and Esme said:
“Lee and Esme were excited to be spending the first weekend of the holidays together.We are all utterly devastated at what’s happened.
This loss is incomprehensible at the moment, and we ask for people to give us space to process this utterly heartbreaking loss.”
Lincolnshire Police have expressed their deepest condolences to the family and friends of Lee and Esme, saying:
“Our sincerest condolences to the family and friends of Lee and Esme.
Our thoughts are with them at this incredibly sad time.”
