Ardwick Man Charged with Attempted Murder Following Breightmet Machete Incident

A 27-year-old man from Ardwick has been charged with attempted murder following a serious incident in a Breightmet store over the weekend.

Dale Dean, born on March 25, 1998, of Upper West Grove, Ardwick, appeared at Wigan and Leigh Magistrates Court today, Wednesday, April 9, 2025, after being remanded into custody.

He faces charges of attempted murder, affray, and possession of a bladed article.

The charges relate to an incident that occurred at approximately 7:50 pm on Saturday, April 5, at a store on Kentmere Road, Breightmet.

Police were called to the scene following reports of a man wielding a machete.
During the incident, a man inside the shop sustained several serious injuries and is currently receiving treatment in hospital.

A man in his 30s who was also arrested on Saturday in connection with the incident has since been released, and police have confirmed that no further action will be taken against him.

Dale Dean has been remanded in custody following his court appearance today. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
