A 55-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder following the death of a 51-year-old woman at a property on Queens Road in Harpurhey.
Police were called to the address at 4:07 am yesterday morning (Monday, April 7th, 2025). Upon arrival, officers sadly discovered the body of the woman inside the property.
Following initial enquiries conducted at the scene, a man was taken into custody and remains in police custody at this time.
A police scene is currently in place at the location as investigators continue to conduct their enquiries to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
Detective Inspector Emma Hulston, of the Major Incident Team, addressed the tragic event, stating:
“The thoughts of the entire investigation team remain with the victim’s family at this time. We are committed to getting answers for them and establishing what occurred.”
She sought to reassure the local community, adding:
“We understand this investigation will raise concerns in the local community, but I would like to reassure the public that we believe this to be an isolated incident with no wider threat to the public.”
DI Hulston also informed residents about the increased police presence in the area.
“Officers will be conducting their enquiries at the address so you will see more officers out in the local area. We have a number of additional resources dedicated to this investigation.”
Authorities are urging anyone with information that may assist their enquiries to come forward.
