Firefighters Tackle House Fire on Calder Avenue, One Suffers Smoke Inhalation

Firefighters from Chorley Fire Station responded swiftly to a domestic property fire on Calder Avenue on Saturday evening, April 5th, 2025.

Two fire engines were dispatched to the scene at 17:05 following reports of a blaze.

Upon arrival, crews encountered a fire within the property. Firefighters worked quickly to extinguish the flames, successfully bringing the situation under control.

Sadly, one casualty suffered from smoke inhalation as a result of the incident. The individual was attended to at the scene by emergency services.

The extent of their injuries is currently unknown.

Firefighters remained at the Calder Avenue property for approximately one hour, ensuring the fire was fully extinguished and the area was safe.

The cause of the fire is currently unknown.

This incident serves as a reminder to residents of the importance of having working smoke alarms fitted in their homes and to have an escape plan in case of a fire.
