Police are appealing for witnesses following a fatal road traffic collision in Haworth yesterday evening (Saturday, April 6th), which resulted in the death of an 81-year-old woman.
Officers were called to Bridgehouse Lane at its junction with Ivy Bank Lane at approximately 5:37 PM following reports of a collision involving a vehicle and a female pedestrian.
Tragically, the pedestrian, an 81-year-old woman, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
A 23-year-old man, the driver of the vehicle involved, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
He remains in police custody at this time as the investigation continues.
Detectives from the Major Collision Enquiry Team (MCET) are now urging anyone who may have witnessed the collision, or who possesses dash cam footage of the incident or the moments leading up to it, to come forward.
They are particularly keen to speak with anyone who was in the area of Bridgehouse Lane and Ivy Bank Lane around the time of the incident and may have seen either the pedestrian or the vehicle involved.
