North Yorkshire Police are appealing for witnesses and dashcam footage following a fatal head-on collision that occurred on the A61, approximately 1.5 miles south of Ripon, near the end of Daffodil Bends.
The incident took place at around 5:10 pm on Saturday, April 5th, 2025, and involved a black BMW 318 travelling north and a black Peugeot 3008 SUV heading south.
The driver of the BMW, a local man in his mid-80s, and the driver of the Peugeot, a man in his late 20s from Warwickshire, were both taken to hospital by ambulance for treatment following the collision.
Tragically, North Yorkshire Police have now confirmed that the elderly driver of the BMW passed away in hospital just after midnight.
