A 71-year-old man from Burnley has been charged with multiple child sexual offences following an investigation launched by Lancashire Police’s child protection teams.

Vincent Walker, of Rawson Street, Burnley, appeared at Blackburn Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, April 1st, facing a total of nine charges.

These include three counts of non-penetrative sexual activity with a girl aged between 13 and 15, three counts of assaulting a girl under the age of 13 by touching, and three counts of breaching a sexual harm prevention order.

The investigation was initiated on the weekend of March 29th after two girls, aged 12 and 13, disclosed to police that they had been sexually assaulted in the Burnley area.

Following the disclosures, officers swiftly identified a suspect, and after further inquiries and consultation with the Crown Prosecution Service, charges were brought against Walker.

Walker was remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear at Burnley Crown Court on April 29th.
