Metropolitan Police detectives have arrested two teenagers in connection with the fatal stabbing of a 17-year-old boy in East Acton.
Police were called to Erconwald Street, Shepherd’s Bush, near the junction with Du Cane Road and Old Oak Common Lane, at approximately 13:10hrs on Saturday, April 5th, following reports of a stabbing.
Officers and the London Ambulance Service attended the scene and discovered two teenage boys suffering from stab wounds.
Despite the best efforts of paramedics and police, one of the teenagers tragically died at the scene.
The deceased has been formally identified as 17-year-old Keiron Charles, who resided in East Acton. His family are currently being supported by specially trained Met officers.
The second teenager, a 16-year-old boy, was taken to hospital for treatment of his stab injuries. He was subsequently arrested on suspicion of murder.
Following assessment, his injuries were deemed non-life-changing, and he was later discharged from hospital before being taken into police custody, where he remains.
A third teenager, also aged 16, had left the scene prior to police arrival. An urgent investigation was launched to locate him, and he was successfully apprehended in the early hours of Sunday, April 6th. He is also currently in police custody.
Detective Chief Inspector Alex Gammampila, who is leading the investigation, expressed his condolences, stating:
“This is an awful incident in which a teenager has lost his life. The thoughts of everyone in the Met remain with Keiron’s family and loved ones as they begin to come to terms with their tragic loss.”
He added, “Detectives have worked around the clock to follow every possible available line of enquiry and I’m pleased that we have made two arrests as part of our early enquiries. While we are working hard to understand the exact circumstances, we are not looking for anyone else in connection with this incident at this stage.”
DCI Gammampila is appealing for public assistance: “I’d like to appeal directly to anyone who was in the area between 1pm and 1.20pm on Saturday and witnessed the incident. Our team are also keen to speak to anyone who might have any other information that might assist us. Keiron had his whole life ahead of him and any information might prove vital in achieving justice on behalf of his family.”
Police are urging anyone who witnessed the incident or possesses any information, including CCTV, phone, or dashcam footage, to come forward.
They are also keen to receive any footage of the incident that may have been shared on social media.
