Man in 20s Hospitalised After Denton Stabbing – Two Arrested and Bailed

A man in his 20s was taken to hospital with stab wounds following an incident on Yew Tree Road in Denton on Wednesday afternoon (April 2, 2025).

Police have confirmed that his injuries, while serious, are not believed to be life-threatening.

Greater Manchester Police (GMP) responded to reports of a man with injuries consistent with a stabbing at approximately 3:10 pm on Wednesday.

Following swift action, officers arrested a man in his 20s on suspicion of attempted murder and a woman in her 40s on suspicion of assisting an offender.

In an update released today, GMP confirmed that both individuals have been bailed pending further enquiries.

Detective Inspector Ian Parker from GMP’s Tameside district reassured the local community, stating:

“Following an incident in Denton last night, we have acted swiftly to detain two individuals. I would like to reassure our community that we believe this to be a targeted attack.”

He further emphasised the force’s commitment to tackling knife crime:

“We take knife-related incidents incredibly seriously at Greater Manchester Police and are determined to secure justice for the victim, who thankfully, did not receive any life-threatening injuries.”

DI Parker acknowledged that such incidents can cause concern within the community and confirmed that officers will maintain a visible presence in the Denton area.

He urged anyone with information, no matter how small it may seem, to come forward to assist with the ongoing investigation.

“Incidents such as this one will understandably cause concern, our officers will maintain a visible presence in the area, and we encourage anyone with information to come forward as we continue our investigation,” DI Parker said.

Police are now appealing for witnesses or anyone who may have crucial information that could help progress their enquiries.
