Waste Fire Promptly Extinguished on Darwen’s Baron Street

Firefighters from Darwen and Blackburn fire stations responded to a waste fire on Baron Street this morning.

The incident was reported at 7:26 am, prompting a swift response from emergency services.

Two fire engines arrived at the scene to tackle the blaze, which involved a significant amount of waste material.

Firefighters efficiently extinguished the fire using one jet, preventing it from spreading to nearby properties.

Crews remained at the scene for approximately fifty minutes to ensure the fire was completely extinguished and to conduct a thorough check for any remaining hotspots.

The cause of the fire is currently unknown and will be investigated.

Local residents reported seeing smoke emanating from the area, prompting the emergency call. No injuries were reported as a result of the incident.

Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service commended the prompt action of the firefighters, which prevented the situation from escalating. They also reiterated the importance of safe waste disposal practices to minimize the risk of fires.
