Two Men Charged in Bolton Vehicle Theft Spree

Two men have been charged with a string of vehicle-related offences following a ten-day investigation in the Bolton area.

Thomas Smethurst, 24, and Logan Lomax, 18, face multiple charges, including vehicle theft and attempted theft.

Thomas Smethurst (born 24/07/00), of no fixed abode, and Logan Lomax (born 28/10/07), of Alberta Street, Bolton, have been charged with two counts of theft of a motor vehicle, two counts of attempted theft from a motor vehicle, two counts of attempted theft, theft, and handling stolen goods.

Additionally, Smethurst faces further charges related to a separate investigation from 2024.

These include four counts of theft of a motor vehicle, possession of a bladed article in public, going equipped for theft, causing serious injury by dangerous driving, and burglary.

He was also charged with dangerous driving and driving while disqualified. Logan Lomax was also charged with a further theft and burglary.

The charges follow a thorough investigation by Greater Manchester Police into a series of vehicle-related crimes in the Bolton area over the past ten days.

The investigation has resulted in a comprehensive list of charges against both individuals, reflecting the severity of the alleged offences.

Both Smethurst and Lomax were remanded into custody and appeared at Manchester Magistrates Court today, April 3rd, 2025.

The court will now proceed with the legal process to address the charges brought against them.
