Bristol detectives are appealing for witnesses after a woman reported being raped in the early hours of Thursday, March 3rd.

The incident has prompted a significant police presence in the Bedminster area, with a cordon established in Victoria Park.

Officers were called to the scene at approximately 5:10 AM after a woman reported the serious sexual assault.

She was immediately taken to hospital for treatment and is receiving support from specialist services.

Neighbourhood Chief Inspector Stephanie McKenna addressed the community, stating,

“We are seeking to clarify where the offence took place but, at this early stage, a cordon is in place in Victoria Park, in Bedminster, and extensive area tours are being carried out by officers.

Officers attended the scene, located the victim and took care of her, before transporting her to hospital for treatment.”

The victim described the suspect as a man of mixed heritage, wearing jeans and a black top.

Police are urging anyone who may have seen someone matching this description in the vicinity of Victoria Park between 4:30 AM and 5:30 AM to come forward.

“I understand this incident will be alarming for the local community and I would like to reassure them that our detectives are conducting a full investigation,” Chief Inspector McKenna added.

“Our neighbourhood officers are conducting high-visibility reassurance patrols in the area and will be available to members of the public who have any concerns.”

Police are also appealing for anyone with CCTV, doorbell, or dashcam footage from the area that could assist in their investigation to contact them.

Anyone with information is urged to call 101 and provide the call handler with the reference number 5225094953.
