A 69-year-old man has tragically died following a collision with a double-decker bus at the junction of Kirkhall Lane and Atherleigh Way in Leigh.
The incident occurred at approximately 3:00 pm on Monday, March 31, 2025.
Emergency services were immediately dispatched to the scene, and the pedestrian was transported to hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Sadly, Greater Manchester Police have confirmed that the man passed away this morning, Thursday, April 3, 2025, as a result of his injuries.
Initial investigations revealed that the man collided with the double-decker bus while it was travelling along Kirkhall Lane.
Detective Constable Nick Rhodes, from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, is appealing for witnesses and information.
“Since the incident, we have conducted a number of lines of enquiries to establish exactly what happened, but we are now appealing to anyone who was in the area to please get in touch,” he stated.
He particularly urged anyone with eyewitness accounts or dashcam footage to come forward, as this information could be crucial in understanding the circumstances leading up to the fatal collision.
“This can be through a personal eyewitness account, or the submission of dash cam footage to understand the movements leading up to the collision which has sadly saw an elderly man lose his life,” said DC Rhodes.
