Damien Bendall, the man serving a life sentence for the murders of his partner and three children in Killamarsh, has been charged with attempted murder following a serious assault at Frankland Prison in Durham.
The 35-year-old, of no fixed abode, was charged in connection with an incident that occurred on Friday, May 10th of the previous year.
The victim of the assault sustained serious head injuries and was hospitalized. He has since recovered.
Bendall has been remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear at Teesside Crown Court on Thursday, May 21st.
Damien Bendall, who was 32 at the time of his sentencing, is serving a life sentence after pleading guilty to the murders of his partner Terri Harris, her children John Paul Bennett and Lacey Bennett, and Lacey’s friend, Connie Gent, in a horrific attack at their shared home on Chandos Crescent, Killamarsh, in September 2021.
He also admitted to raping 11-year-old Lacey during the same incident.
The charge of attempted murder within the high-security prison has raised further concerns about Bendall’s continued risk to others while incarcerated.
The upcoming court appearance will determine the next steps in this new legal proceeding.
