Man in his 70s struck by ford transit van at busy Merseyside junction

A man in his 70s is in serious but stable condition in hospital following a collision at the Childwall Fiveways Roundabout in Liverpool yesterday afternoon (Tuesday, April 1st).

Emergency services were called to the scene, outside the Oak Vale Medical Centre on Childwall Road, at approximately 4:30 PM.

The incident involved a silver Ford Transit van and the elderly pedestrian.

The man was immediately transported to hospital for treatment.

The driver of the van remained at the scene and is cooperating with police investigations.

Merseyside Police are now appealing for witnesses and dashcam footage to help them determine the full circumstances of the collision.

Inspector Simon Wilson said,

“This would have been a distressing incident for anyone who witnessed it.

Childwall Fiveways is a busy junction and we would be keen to hear from anyone who witnessed this incident or who may have dashcam footage to get in touch.”

Officers are currently speaking to potential witnesses and reviewing CCTV footage from the area.
