A major drug trafficking operation, known as the “Lex Line,” has been dismantled, resulting in lengthy prison sentences for four individuals.

Greater Manchester Police (GMP) seized a firearm linked to a 2012 fatal shooting during the investigation, highlighting the gang’s dangerous activities.

The investigation, led by GMP’s Serious Organised Crime Group, revealed Clint Curtis as the primary figurehead of the “Lex Line,” which supplied heroin and crack cocaine across Manchester and Stockport.

Through extensive phone analysis and surveillance, detectives also implicated Jerome Williams and David Curtis in the operation.

The gang utilized multiple safe houses to store drugs and firearms. Evidence showed they sent approximately 50,000 “flare messages” between October 9, 2023, and April 1, 2024, advertising their drugs, with an estimated street value of £300,000 from over 3 kilos of drugs.

Surveillance operations revealed Clint Curtis driving various vehicles and using multiple phones, breaching his license conditions.

Warrants executed on April 24, 2024, at Moss Side addresses, uncovered drugs and items linked to Jerome Williams.

Subsequent warrants on May 7, 2024, at a Caythorpe Street address, led to the discovery of a firearm, ammunition, and Giovani Edmonson.

Forensic testing confirmed the firearm’s connection to four previous shootings, including a fatal one in 2012.

A coordinated strike on May 22, 2024, resulted in the arrests of Clint Curtis and David Curtis.

Further investigation revealed drug paraphernalia and a debtors list referencing “Lex.” Jerome Williams, who had been wanted by police, turned himself in on June 3, 2024.

Clint Curtis, who boasted about his criminal activities in online rap videos, was sentenced to 19 years and four months for conspiracy to supply class A drugs, possession of a firearm, and ammunition with intent to endanger life.

Jerome Williams received 12 years for similar charges. Giovani Edmonson was sentenced to five years, and David Curtis received six years for conspiracy to supply class A drugs.

Detective Inspector Rick Castley stated,

“Clint Curtis boasted of his criminal exploits in several rap videos that were published to YouTube for all to see.

These videos glorified the criminality that he was engaged in and how much money he was making from these exploits, with no regard for the people who were impacted by his crimes.

These men made significant profits at the expense of vulnerable drug users and were in possession of a deadly weapon.

Tackling the criminal use of firearms is a priority for Greater Manchester Police and we will continue to do everything in our power to achieve that.”
