Five-Year-Old Boy Seriously Injured in Grassendale Collision

A five-year-old boy has been hospitalized with serious injuries following a collision with a car at the junction of Aigburth Road and Grassendale Road in Liverpool.

Merseyside Police are appealing for witnesses and dashcam footage to help establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Emergency services were called to the scene at approximately 5:55 PM on Tuesday, April 1, 2025, following reports of a collision involving a grey Volkswagen Polo and a young pedestrian.

The boy was promptly taken to the hospital for treatment.

Merseyside Police have confirmed that the boy’s injuries are serious but not life-threatening. The driver of the VW Polo remained at the scene.

Officers are currently conducting inquiries, including speaking with potential witnesses and reviewing CCTV footage from the area, to determine the sequence of events leading to the collision.

Chief Inspector Phil Thompson expressed his gratitude to members of the public who provided immediate medical assistance at the scene. He stated,

“This would have been a distressing incident for anyone who witnessed it, and we are grateful for members of the public who provided medical attention at the scene immediately after the collision.”

He added, “The boy is now receiving further treatment in hospital where his condition is not described as life threatening.

Aigburth Road is a busy road and we would be keen to hear from anyone who witnessed this incident or who may have dashcam footage to get in touch.”

Merseyside Police are urging anyone who witnessed the collision or who may have relevant dashcam footage to come forward.
