Local authorities are investigating an incident of vandalism at Padiham Cricket Club after a video surfaced on social media depicting a group of children destroying memorial benches.
The incident occurred on the evening of April 1st, prompting widespread community outrage.
The Burnley and Padiham Neighbourhood Policing Team confirmed they are aware of the video and possess high-quality CCTV footage that clearly identifies the individuals involved.
In a statement released on their social media channels, officers condemned the “mindless damage” as “completely unacceptable.”
“We are in possession of high-quality CCTV showing those responsible,” the statement read.
“Your local Neighbourhood Policing Team are reviewing the footage and will be addressing the behaviour of those responsible over the next few days.”
The destruction of the memorial benches, which hold sentimental value for many in the community, has sparked significant concern among residents.
The cricket club, a central part of the local area, is now dealing with the aftermath of the damage.
